Freebirth & Wild Pregnancy Support

Planning a Freebirth or Wild Pregnancy?

You don’t have to go it alone.
Support doesn’t have to mean surrendering your autonomy.

I believe in your ability to birth.

I’ve had unassisted births myself.
I’ve also worked with families who planned to birth without one.

So let me be clear up front:
I do believe the body knows how to grow, carry, and birth a baby.
I do believe that pregnancy doesn’t require management, fear, or constant interference.
And I do support your right to forgo care entirely if that feels right to you.

But I also know this:

  • Sometimes, experienced mothers don’t realize how depleted or unsupported they are until someone else reflects it back.

  • Sometimes, first-time moms don’t know what they don’t know until they’re already in the middle of something they can’t fix alone.

  • And sometimes, birth plans change—not because the body failed, but because fear crept in, and there wasn’t a midwife there to say:
“You’re safe. You can keep going. Let’s do this together.”

✨ What If You Didn’t Have to Choose Between Total Autonomy and Total Management?

There’s this idea out there that seeking or accepting midwifery care means giving up control.
That if you hire a midwife, you have to hand over your birth or be forced to compromise your values for their comfort.

That’s not how I work.
Not even close.

I believe your birth belongs to you.
You set the tone. You choose the rhythm. You carry the power.
But that doesn’t mean you have to carry everything.

Midwifery care can be deeply sovereign—when it’s rooted in trust.

I offer full care for families who want to:

  • Stay in charge of their birth experience

  • Make informed decisions with zero pressure

  • Catch their own babies, set the pace, and shape the experience themselves

  • Have someone present who knows how to track what’s unfolding—and how to respond if something shifts

I’ve spent years walking with families through freebirths, wild pregnancies, and unconventional care paths.
And I still support self-directed births with a deeply non-intrusive approach.

But I also come equipped with the skills and tools to:

  • Handle a postpartum hemorrhage

  • Suture a tear

  • Support stalled labor

  • Assess and resuscitate a newborn

  • Recognize when something is off—and act accordingly

Sometimes, what matters most isn't what you use, but what’s quietly present in the room.

Offerings for Freebirth & Wild Pregnancy Families

  • A reflective, judgment-free space to explore your birth intentions, motivations, and concerns—with someone who understands the path you’re considering.

Whether you’re planning a wild pregnancy, a freebirth, or you’re just unsure where you land, this session offers space to slow down and really consider:

    • What’s guiding your decisions—intuition, fear, ideology, exhaustion, or something else?

    • What do you know about birth? What are you assuming?

    • Are you choosing something or avoiding something else?

    • What do you need to feel grounded and supported—on your own terms?

    This is not a class.
This isn’t about being “right” or “wrong.”
It’s a pause point—to get clear before you go further.

    What’s included:

    • A 45-minute one-on-one session (virtual or in person)

    • Optional pre-session reflection worksheet to clarify your goals, fears, and influences

    • Thoughtful, honest questions to help you discern your next steps

    • Optional follow-up resource suggestions based on your needs (no pressure, no sales pitch)

Autonomy doesn’t mean figuring it out alone. It means making choices with your eyes open.

    → $45
(Sliding scale always available—please reach out if cost is a barrier.)

  • A one-time visit for early support, documentation, and grounding.
Whether you’re newly pregnant and need documentation for Medicaid, or you just want a second set of experienced eyes (and hands) to check in on how things are progressing, this visit offers clarity without pressure.

    This visit includes:

    • Clinical proof of pregnancy (for Medicaid, housing, WIC, or future birth certificate filing)

    • Fundal height measurement and optional listening to heart tones

      • Doppler available anytime; fetoscope available after 20 weeks

    • Education on what’s normal in early pregnancy—and what to keep an eye on

    • Space to ask questions and explore next steps, no matter what kind of care you’re planning

A quick note about heart tones:
It’s very common for parents to hear their own heartbeat when learning to use a fetoscope at home. (You’re not alone if you’ve thought, “Is that the baby?”)
We’ll talk about how to confidently distinguish between maternal and fetal heart tones, and when different tools are most effective. It’s all part of learning to connect with what’s happening in your body.

    → $150 (sliding scale available)

  • For families choosing to birth without a midwife—and want to be prepared for the “what ifs.”

This session is designed for families planning a freebirth or wild pregnancy who want an honest, grounded look at what can go wrong, how to recognize it, and how to respond if needed.

It’s not here to scare you. It’s here to give you tools—and a clear-eyed look at the parts of birth that don’t always make it into carefully curated Instagram posts.

    This visit includes:

    • A realistic overview of the most common complications in physiological birth

    • A reflective discussion on how to tell the difference between fear and intuition—because sometimes fear is wisdom in disguise, and sometimes “intuition” is really a trauma response

    • A space to gently examine stories circulating in freebirth spaces—especially the ones that feel empowering at first but may fall apart under pressure

We’ll hold both intuition and realism with care.

    • Guidance for how to assess yourself and your baby if something feels off

    • A framework for making decisions under pressure when you’re birthing solo

    • A look at what emergency responders can and can’t do, and how to communicate clearly if you call

    • Clarifying the difference between “normal but intense” vs. true red flags

    • A gentle walkthrough of common messages from freebirth forums and social media—including what’s useful and what may leave out important context

    • Includes my printed and bound Freebirth Emergency Companion—a quick-reference guide with visual cues, timelines, and action steps for labor, birth, and postpartum

    ⚠️ Please note:

This session does not and cannot replace the presence of a trained midwife.
It is not medical care, clinical supervision, or birth attendance.
I will not be on call for your labor or available as “backup.”

What I offer is educational support and grounded perspective so you can move forward with clearer eyes and greater confidence.

You are choosing to birth without a trained attendant. This session respects that choice while helping you take full ownership of it.

Because being sovereign also means being prepared.

    → $150
    (Sliding scale available upon request.)

  • Not a check-up. Not a coaching session. Just a space to talk about how you’re doing—physically, emotionally, and practically—during pregnancy outside of conventional care.

Whether you’re planning a wild pregnancy or navigating your own blend of care, this session offers nonjudgmental support from someone who’s been there and gets it.

    We can cover:

    • What’s normal at different stages of pregnancy

    • What to keep an eye on

    • Realistic approaches to self-care, rest, and nutrition

    • Sorting through information and staying grounded in your own priorities

Includes an optional pre-session reflection worksheet to help you get clear on what you want out of the conversation.

For women walking an unconventional path who want honest support, not hype.

    → $45

  • Gentle, in-home support for you and your baby in the early days after birth.

    This visit includes:

    • Newborn exam – head-to-toe visual assessment, weight check, reflexes, tone, color, and breathing

    • Metabolic screening (state newborn screen), if desired

    • CCHD screening (pulse oximetry test for critical congenital heart conditions)

    • Vitamin K administration (oral or injectable available upon request)

    • Feeding support – latch evaluation, positioning guidance, and normal diaper output overview

    • Maternal check – bleeding, uterine tone, perineal healing, emotional state, hydration/nourishment

    • Optional weight recheck for baby or a follow-up visit if clinically indicated

    $150

    Important Note:
If you are not hiring me for full midwifery care, I am not on call for your birth. I cannot guarantee availability in the days following delivery, as I may be attending other clients or out of town. That’s part of the tradeoff in choosing to go without a midwife on call.

That said, you're always welcome to reach out—and if I’m available, I’ll be happy to come. Just please understand that availability may vary.

🚫 Before You Book: A Note on Boundaries & Responsibility

Most midwives don’t offer this kind of support to families outside of formal care. While I once didn’t understand that choice, I’ve come to see it as wise and necessary.

Our integrity, responsibilities, and even legal standing depend on clearly defined care relationships. When lines get blurry, the consequences can be serious, not just for the midwife, but for the family, and for the broader perception of homebirth itself.

There’s a very real risk of being misrepresented as someone’s midwife, without a care agreement, without payment, and without informed consent. And when outcomes don’t go as planned, it’s not uncommon for the story to shift in a way that unfairly implicates midwives who weren’t actually present or responsible. That doesn’t just harm the individual midwife, it undermines trust in midwifery and reduces access to safe, respectful birth options for everyone.

My own life and calling have been shaped by these dynamics, both as a birthing mother and as a midwife. I offer these sessions because I’ve seen where the gaps are, and I want to help bridge them in a way that is honest, careful, and respectful.

Here’s what that means in practice:

  • These sessions are educational and supportive, not medical care. I am not assuming responsibility for your prenatal care or any clinical issues that may arise.

  • Booking a session does not mean I’ll attend your birth. I am not available as backup or “on call” unless we’ve made a formal midwifery care agreement.

  • Postpartum availability is not guaranteed. If I’m not being hired to be on call, I may not be in town or available when you need support.

  • If you have not hired me for full midwifery care, you agree not to list me as your midwife on birth certificates, online posts, or in conversations with emergency responders. This is not just a personal boundary—it protects the integrity of my practice and of midwifery as a whole.

I deeply believe in midwifery care. Even if you’re walking a different path, I want the heart of midwifery—the grounding, reverence, and trust—to still reach you here.

Midwives, while human and imperfect, give so much to make more options available for women. If you choose to work with me, I ask that you come with openness and respect for that work, even if you’re choosing something outside its bounds.
